Tulips

For Spring flowers, bulbs need to be planted in the Fall. Tulips, Daffodils, Hyacinths, Crocus, Allium, Iris, Muscari and Miscellaneous-type bulbs need to be planted in the Fall and endure a months-long period of cold and darkness. The bulbs are often called Fall-planted bulbs or Spring-Flowering bulbs. The bulbs must be planted in the fall or early winter to bloom in spring because they require a long period (10-15 weeks) of cool temperature to spark the biochemical process that causes them to flower. In fall, it’s important to get them into the ground before the ground freezes. They need time to develop strong roots. Water well immediately after planting!
